When to go to 1 nap?

My twins are 15 months, they have been taking 2 regular naps a day.  For the last couple of days they act like they don't want to take the morning nap.  I think it is time to switch to only 1 nap.  When did your kids start taking only 1 nap?  I am a very scheduled person, especially with them, so I am worried about messing up their schedule.  Thanks, Sharon

My lil one is almost 14 months and when she transitioned to the 1's room at school they have 1 scheduled nap...but I have to tell you my girl is a sleeper...so they have her nap after lunch and usually by 4:30 / 5 she is a CRAB..so she takes a brief nap.  But on weekends she usually takes am and pm naps.  So I think it just depends on the kids- I can definately tell when she wants a nap and when she isn't going to do it.  So I would say if they are sending you the signs, its time.  I try to keep Sophie in schedule too- I was scared to death that if she napped at 5-6pm she wouldnt go to bed- but 7:15 rolls around and she hits that tired out phase.  So all considered even with late day nap she goes to bed at 8 or 8:30.  Maybe more experience moms will have an exact answer..but that is just my experience.

My son was around 14 months when he went to 1 nap.   It does depend on the child though.  My son was taking two little naps (an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon)  and now , with the 1 nap, his nap is like 3.5 hours in the afternoon.

For a solid week my 7 month old was vigorously fighting his 2nd nap every single day.  He happened to be going for a well visit then so I asked what to do.  His ped. said if he's sleeping good through the night (which he is 12 hrs) plus one good nap in the day (he goes 2-3 hrs in the late morning) and IF he demonstrates he doesn't want to nap that's okay with her.  I still enforce a "rest time" of being in his crib even if he doesn't want to nap.  Now he's back to 2 naps a day without fuss, but our schedules are changing with school starting and if he goes back to 1 a day I know not to worry.  This pattern didn't match at all my other children either, so each kid is different.

I am not alone, neither are you.
